The Phoenix Bird symbolizes Immortality, Resurrection, and Life after death. "Al-Qiyamah" is Arabic for The Resurrection. Resurrection is defined as a rising again. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this” (The Bible, John 11: 25-26)? “And speak not of those who are slain in Allah’s (God’s) way as dead. Nay, they are alive, but you perceive not” (Holy Quran, 2:154).
According to the Egyptians, the Phoenix Bird lives in Arabia, near a cool well. Only one Phoenix Bird exists at a time. When the Phoenix felt its death was near, every 500 to 1,461 years, it would build a nest of aromatic wood and set it on fire. The bird then was consumed by the flames.
A new Phoenix sprang forth from the pyre. "See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff (The Bible, Isaiah 41:15). “O mankind, if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you…”(Holy Quran 22:5).
Therefore, we saw the Phoenix Bird very befitting as the symbol of what Al-Qiyamah Center for Healing represents and signifies, which is Resurrection and Life Everlasting. Al-Qiyamah Center for Healing is a partner of Hurt 2 Healing in primarily addressing Grief and Loss.
